The Global Road Safety Partnership launches a new-look global website

Back to news

The Global Road Safety Partnership announces the launch of its new global website with a new design and most importantly with fresh content and additional features, including links to social media outlets.

“We are determined to reach many more people and get them involved in the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety,” says Andrew Pearce, the CEO of the partnership, “and we believe the efficient and creative use of modern communications technology can help us a great deal towards reaching this strategic objective as well as making access to our information easier for our existing colleagues.”

At the first phase of a four phase redesign plan, the new website has a cleaner and interactive look and is easier to navigate. It features new pages of our latest news and calendar of events, and organises information about our work by regions, countries and by our main programmes. Civil societies, governments, and businesses who would like to join our partnership will now find it easier to communicate with us and access significant amount of Road Safety information, data and learning. Our current members, partners, and supporters will also find in the new website an important support tool to follow up on our work and receive the latest updates in just one click. During the second phase, we will be adding pages for each partner in order to better communicate and share information with them and to allow easy access to specific reports and related information.

The site has been developed as a resource of information for all those interested in improving road safety and will serve as a key portal globally for road safety related information for road safety practitioners, academics, and all of us as road users.

“The Global Road Safety Partnership’s communication capacity is in high gear for 2012,” says Jesse Anton, the designer of our new website. “The new web design is underpinned by a cloud-based content management platform, a modern e-newsletter, and social networking features. Together, these components make information sharing easier and help to reach a wider audience.”

For an effective management of our knowledge resource, the new website features an electronic library of Road Safety information, data, facts and figures, under the “Our Knowledge” section. Under this section we have compiled, restructured, and centralized our road safety learning material with easy access to our good practice manuals and annual reports, and a significant list of links and references to other Road Safety sites and materials.

Under phases 3 and 4, we will further animate the site with a gallery of photos and videos and we will enhance the link with our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and run and manage a road safety blog.

We welcome your comments and feedback about our new website and we appreciate your ideas on how to improve it to better serve your needs and make it more appealing and engaging. By all means contact us at grsp@ifrc.org

Together we can save millions of lives.
