Annual PRAISE Seminar
The past few years, the Global Road Safety Partnership has worked closely with the European Transport Safety Counctil (ETSC) to run the annual PRAISE seminar. The ETSC project, Preventing Road Accidents and Injuries for the Safety of Employees (PRAISE), aims to increase road safety in the work context. ETSC’s project aims to “praise” best practices in order to help employers secure high road safety standards for their employees. This year, in cooperation with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the ETSC invites you to its annual PRAISE Seminar in Brussels.
ETSC will launch the PRAISE Handbook which will include all of the 9 Thematic Reports on the different work related road safety topics covered during the 3 year project. We will also present and discuss findings of ETSC’s last three Thematic Reports. These include:
- Tackling Fatigue: EU Social Rules and Heavy Good Vehicle Drivers (this is highly relevant to the current discussions to revise the Tachograph Regulation)
- Driving for Work, Managing Speed
- Work Related Road Safety Management Programmes
As in 2011, EU-OSHA will organise a session within the programme. It will present its Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2012-13 on leadership and worker participation, giving examples from the road transport sector.
The winners of the ETSC PRAISE awards 2012 will also be announced. Employers rewarded by PRAISE will receive positive recognition for their efforts made in road safety. They will have the opportunity to exchange best practice with other companies committed to road safety.
On the previous day 24th of April ETSC will organise a Drink Driving Conference in Brussels. The agenda includes presentations on European experiences and measures implemented within the area of drinking and driving.
