Improving road safety for children on their way to school in 13 medium-size cities in 7 low and middle-income countries
AROUND THE WORLD

THE BOTNAR CHILD ROAD SAFETY CHALLENGE
The Botnar Child Road Safety Challenge is improving road safety for children on their way to school. It involves municipal level projects in medium-sized cities in seven priority countries: India, Mexico, Tanzania, Tunisia, Romania, South Africa and Vietnam. Countries were selected based on the burden of road traffic injuries and fatalities, with one country selected from each of the World Health Organisation regions.
The Botnar Child Road Safety Challenge is guided by core principles of evidence-based, multi-sectorial and innovative interventions. It commenced in 2018 under direction of Global Road Safety Partnership and Fondation Botnar, working with partners. Each project also has active participation and collaboration between government, civil society and the private sector.
