Developing strategies to support the implementation of new Traffic Law in Cambodia

On 17 and 18 March in Cambodia, GRSP hosted a meeting of in-country advocacy partners and the Bloomberg Advocacy Incubator to develop a strategy for supporting implementation of the new Traffic Law; the progress of which we have been supporting and reporting on through this newsletter. Relevant government partners also participated in parts of the strategy session.

The major outcome of the meeting was a strategy which focuses on supporting the drafting of implementing regulations (sub-decrees) and maintaining political support for implementation on the national level; ensuring strong enforcement on the provincial level; and building public awareness of the new legislation. The Road Traffic Law is expected to be implemented and enforcement started in January 2016.
