Road Policing Executive Leadership Course (RPELC)
Road Policing Executive Leadership Course (RPELC)
The RPELC has been created for senior police and enforcement officials who work in road policing and enforcement globally.
The goal of the course is to build the executive leadership capacity of senior police to enable them to strategically address key road safety risks through the effective implementation of evidence-based interventions. The course takes a comprehensive Safe System Approach to road safety and outlines how senior police are a critical stakeholder in delivering measurable road trauma reduction outcomes by reducing death and serious injuries from road crashes.
Key features of the course include:
- Delivery of this programme through road policing officers, leaders, and global experts.
- Thematic emphasis on road policing leadership, police legitimacy, partnerships, and effective community communication.
- Regional specific content and delivery
- Certification from a leading university and global road safety partners.
- Admission into the Global Road Policing Network.
The course also includes exercises that translate theory into practice and involve targeted activities that outline the practicalities of enforcement in low- and middle-income countries.
The course is a one-week, residential course delivered in a regional location.
Content is delivered by experts from GRSP and JHU-IIRU, as well as key partner organisations including:
- International Association of Chiefs of Police

The course is open to participants through an internal nomination process of the partner organisations of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety.
