Road safety for school children, a focus for Total Vietnam
In support of the national year of road safety, Total Vietnam and GRSP are working in partnership to implement the “Safety for me, for you and for all” programme in selected primary schools in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang.
With the aim to improve understanding and behaviour, the programme “Safety for me, for you and for all” has been developed as a reference educational source on road safety to help teachers customise visual lessons in class and organise outdoor activities enriching road safety lessons in the following five topics:
- Safely walking
- Safely biking
- Safety on motorbikes
- Safety in cars
- Safety at night
These five subjects are featured on an interactive e-learning programme which pupils can enjoy in class and at home with their family and friends. The initial role out of the programme will directly reach more than 1500 children from these partner schools, as well as extending the messages to their families and carers.
Total Vietnam also helps organize Road Safety Day in these schools to help raise awareness on the importance of road safety. Activities include a quiz on traffic rules, games that will encourage safer behaviours on the road to school and practice walking and riding with a mock traffic light. The events will be facilitated by Total Vietnam’s employee volunteers and teachers that completed the training provided by GRSP.
“Road safety is everyone’s concern. What better approach than educating young people to develop the right behaviour? We are proud to be part of this programme with our staff,” commented by Xavier Pinatelle, General Director, Total Vietnam.
