For the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, YOURS – Youth for Road Safety – released a series of posters for young people to raise awareness about key risks on the roads.

Ten days before the launch of the first-ever Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, the global youth organization for road safety, YOURS – Youth for Road Safety, released a series of posters  for young people around the world to raise awareness about key risk factors on the roads.

Globally road traffic crashes are the biggest killer of young people aged 15-29 years. Every year more than 400,000 young people are killed and millions more are injured on the roads. The UN Decade of Action for road safety provides a unique opportunity for long-term action that can save millions of lives.

A series of five ‘Surreal Posters’  on road safety will help support and promote road safety issues and programmes. A unique approach towards various road users – drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, focuses attention on the use of seat-belts and helmets, drinking and driving, speeding and visibility on the road.

“The posters are just one tool that YOURS is employing to make young people aware of the road traffic dangers,” says Floor Lieshout, Director of YOURS. “As emerging young leaders  we take the responsibility to stand up and do our part in reaching the objectives of the Decade of action for road safety through our various programmes and networking”.

The posters will be distributed worldwide through YOURS’ global youth network for road safety and will be exhibited in places of prominence to deliver the messages to the young audiences.

The five posters are available to download at: www.youthforroadsafety.org
